Choosing a lawyer is never easy, and choosing one to represent you in a divorce can be even more complicated. Nancy J. Bickford makes the decision simple.
Bickford offers clients a unique combination - she has an M.B.A. and and is a certified public accountant and is a certified family law specialist. This means that she is familiar with financial statements and business appraisals. "I love helping my clients understand and solve complex financial matters and unwind complicated tracing issues that many, if not most, other divorce attorneys may not understand or enjoy," says Bickford.
During divorce proceedings the goal is to settle by mediating out of court. Bickford adds, "Litigation is always a last resort, but we have the financial and business sophistication to get the results you deserve. Clients care about the assets they worked so hard to save, so that mediation is a good choice in order to save estates rather than spend hard-earned savings in litigation. A fair, mediated settlement is often a realistic and achievable goal."
Bickford's office has been located in the Carmel Valley-Del Mar area for nine years. Her staff "tends to be perfectionists," and works in teams that focus on the client. The firm's policy is to take direction from clients while at the same time, guiding the client through the process of the divorce.

CFA Forecast Dinner
The CFA Society of San Diego is holding its annual Forecast Dinner for money managers, investment consultants, plan sponsors, financial planners and financial advisers.
"People who attend the CFA Investment Forecast Dinner will get perspectives that they otherwise never would have had - an understanding and greater awareness of what is happening in the investment markets," said Machel Allen, president of the CFA Society of San Diego.
In the last few years, investors have lost faith in the markets, he said, so CFA Society of San Diego's goal is to ensure that both the investment community and investors themselves can have a high degree of trust.
Allen added: "The event is important to the investment community - and individual investors - to understand what forces are moving the economy, and what is happening in the market. Even when in recovery, the market can be volatile, so it's important to hear directly from some of the nation's leading voices in economics and investing."
The event takes place at the Estanica La Jolla Hotel from 5:30 to 9 p.m. March 4. There will be two 25-minute presentations from market experts (Christopher Thornberg from Beacon Economics and Thomas J. Lee from JPMorgan) and a 30-minute Q&A speaker panel discussion (led by CNBC business reporter Jane Wells). Pre-presentation cocktails and dinner will also be served.
The Estancia La Jolla Hotel is at 9700 N. Torrey Pines Road. Visit www.cfassd.org.
